Eligible Investment Options for Tax Rebate

Here’s a breakdown of common investment areas where you can invest to claim tax rebates in Bangladesh:

  • Shanchay Patra (Savings Certificates): Maximum eligible for tax rebate: BDT 500,000.
  • DPS (Deposit Pension Scheme): Maximum eligible for tax rebate: BDT 120,000 annually.
  • Mutual Funds (Listed): Full invested amount is generally eligible.
  • Treasury Bonds: Full invested amount is generally eligible.
  • Stocks (Listed in Stock Exchange): Full invested amount is generally eligible.
  • Provident Fund (Employee's & Employer's Contribution, Approved Fund): Contributions are eligible.
  • Life Insurance Premium: Up to 10% of the sum assured.
  • Donations to Approved Organizations: Specific limits apply.

Note: The total eligible investment for claiming rebate is capped. The actual rebate is calculated as 15% of the eligible investment or 3% of taxable income (whichever is lower), but the final rebate itself cannot exceed BDT 1,000,000. Always refer to the latest NBR circulars for precise rules and limits.
